CROSSBREEDS is a platform for artistic positions “in between”.

CROSSBREEDS 09 is looking for transdisciplinary artistic works which interface dance/performance with other art forms and especially new media.

Works/projects can be entered in the categories dance/performance; (short) film/video/animation; and installation or ways of creative expression which do not fit in any of the other categories.

• Dance/performance: we are looking for projects, which formulate medial interface work as a co-operative aspect of their conception and working process.

• (Short) film/video/animation: works specifically based on dance/performance/body, which transfer a choreographic perspective with the principles of film. Documentaries of performance works are accepted provided they deal with film issues and can be regarded as independent artistic film work.

• Installation: Projects can be entered which integrate the mentioned aspects above.

A selection of the entries will be programmed for January 2009. The programme will offer insights into artistic hybrids in different spaces of the WUK area, and discuss artistic contents and issues of medial transdisciplinarity in various discursive formats.

In the category dance/performance, only works of Austrian based artists can be taken into consideration; in the categories (short) film/video/animation and installation, international works are accepted, too.
